Lex’s early career saw him work as protégé to Gordon Raphael (The Strokes, Regina Spektor, The Libertines), where he developed a sharp ear for sound and arrangement — an experience that ultimately led to the creation of his own original album with Gordon as producer.
He later spent two years immersed in a studio environment, working across different genres and artists, refining both his technical skills and creative instincts.
As of 2026, Lex joined and is the new face for MusicCollegeTV — a YouTube channel with over 218k subscribers — where he writes and presents his own videos on music theory.
Being dyslexic himself, he specialises in breaking complex ideas into clear, ultra-simplified concepts that actually stick, especially for those who’ve struggled with traditional approaches, currently working on his upcoming book, Written in Stone: The Music Theory Handbook, further expanding his mission to make music theory simple, practical, and accessible.
His teaching style is relaxed, intuitive, and focused on helping students feel comfortable with the instrument — not just improving technique, but building confidence and finding their own musical voice through foundational, indispensable knowledge.
